Editorial Op-ed

It was an honor to illustrate former Mayor Andrew Young’s AJC op-ed on the incarceration cycle of African-American males. I approached the piece with a stark verticality and a minimalist palette to mirror the weight of the subject matter. The imagery of a caged mind and shackled limbs serves as a visual metaphor for a fractured self-image and the denial of forward progress. Both the author and the public received the work with high acclaim.
